16 - Pure in Christ (Part 2)

Once Christians recognize their identity in Christ, God expects then that they will live like it. Throughout Ephesians 4, Paul stipulated that believers must no longer live like the world. The New Creation in Christ that we now are should bear no resemblance to the Old Self in Adam that we once were. There should be, indeed there must be, a marked difference in conduct between the redeemed and reprobate. In Ephesians 5:1-7 the apostle Paul sums up what this all means. In short, he writes, we must emulate God (by walking in love) and eliminate godlessness (be avoiding immorality and impurity).
