A kiss of betrayal. A flash of violence. A wounded man. And Jesus standing calmly in the middle of it all. In Luke 22:47–53, we witness the dramatic arrest of Jesus in Gethsemane—a moment when everything appears to be spiraling out of control. Yet Jesus is never out of control. He refuses violence, heals His enemy, confronts His betrayer, and willingly submits to the path leading to the cross. What can this powerful scene teach us about Christ’s mercy, His sovereignty, and His willingness to suffer for our salvation? In Luke 22:47-53. we discover the Savior who remained faithful when everything around Him was falling apart.
