84 - The Parable of the Pharisee & Tax Collector

Feb 8, 2026    Pastor Ronald H. Gann

In Luke 18:9–14, Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector to expose the danger of self-righteousness and the power of humble repentance. Though the Pharisee appears outwardly devout and the tax collector socially disgraced, Jesus overturns expectations by declaring that it is the tax collector who goes home justified before God. The parable concludes with a sharp reversal principle: those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
