72 - The Sick & The Sabbath

There were pharisees who were sympathetic to Jesus. A few of them even became believers later in Acts 15. But on whole, they hated and opposed Jesus, viewing the Good News of the gospel as a threat to them and an attack on their religious system. And they weren’t wrong. The gospel did threaten their works-righteousness system. It didn’t threaten to unseat Judaism as the religion of the day. And that Jesus frequently denounced the Pharisees in public only enraged them all the more. So imagine the Lord’s surprise when one once again a ruler of these Pharisees invited him to dinner. What could possibly could go wrong?
