73 - The Parable Of The Great Banquet

Bad excuses can be one of the greatest barriers between a person and eternal salvation. Many people intend to follow God “someday,” but they always find reasons to delay their commitment—too busy with work, too tired to pray, too distracted by worldly pleasures, or too indifferent to sin because they think there will always be more time. The danger with being lulled to sleep by excuses is that it ignores Scripture’s warning in 2 Corinthians 6:2 that “now is the day of salvation,” meaning that delay is a deadly form of disobedience. And in the case of the parable of the Great Banquet, it would cost the invited guests--the Jewish religious leaders--their places at the heavenly dinner feast.
